My info
I am a conservative American mother of three boys. 9-11 shook me to the core and I feel indebted to
George Bush for his strength to stand by his pledge to keep this country safe. This was in the face of terrible attacks
from his political enemies. My first concern is and always will be the safety of my family. My second is that
my boys inherit a country that has the same freedom and immense opportunities that my generation inherited; something I feel
that is quickly slipping away. My goal is to add my voice to the many who are waking up to this realization.
More about Sarah Palin
A year ago I was a frustrated republican who felt that my party had become another democrat party, just a little
more conservative on foreign affairs. We were no longer the party of fiscal conservatism. In fact, we were losing
elections because democrats were able to run to the right on the economy against our candidates. Then, in August, John
McCain (the candidate I was going to have to vote for while holding my nose) picked Sarah Palin as his running mate.
In a few short weeks you could see the conservative "regular folks" in our party re-energize. The more
I read, the more I liked her. However, the most important connection I felt with Sarah Palin is that I too
am the parent of a child with special needs. It gives you a unique perspective, and it forces you to see life in much
simpler terms. Something that we sorely need in Washington DC. It would be presumptuous of me to predict
what Governor Palin's future holds, but I can tell you that I completely understand her decision to resign as the Governor
of Alaska. In the end, all you have are your family and close friends. The unconscionable attacks that were
made on her family would drive the strongest willed person to throw up their hands and say "it's not worth it".
The "if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen" refrain from democrats and some republicans is disingenuous.
We all know that these kinds of attacks have been off limits for as long as I can remember. The greatest example of
the hypocracy of this has to be the David Letterman affair; who incidentally, lost me as a fan when he became an angry, disgusting
old man. In simplest terms Don Imus lost his job for a spontaneous joke about some teenage girls' appearance, while
Letterman did not lose his job for making a scripted joke about the rape of a teenage girl. Both were very bad jokes
and both men should have been dealt with in an equally harsh way.....come on...does anyone else see something wrong with
this picture? I had the pleasure of seeing Governor Palin speak in Richmond last October. The crowd of tens
of thousands of people consisted of some of the nicest people I've ever met. If she does happen to start some kind of
effort in the lower forty eight, I would be honored to help her in her endeavors.
